Plan Central Vermont: Shaping Our Region from the Ground Up is a regional planning effort through the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission (CVRPC) to update our Amended 2008 Regional Plan. The 2016 Regional Plan will be the culmination of a three-year planning process, bringing together residents, elected leaders, the professional community and community-based organizations in a conversation around how to best address these issues and ensure the long-term health and vitality of the Central Vermont Region. The Plan will build on past regional planning efforts in Central Vermont and look towards the future using the vision created through the public engagement process.
The project kick-off was held in September 2013 and coordinated efforts are currently underway.
CVRPC serves twenty-three communities throughout Washington County and parts of Orange County. CVRPC’s mission is to assist member municipalities in providing effective local government and to work cooperatively with them to address regional issues. More information about CVRPC can be found on our website: www.centralvtplanning.org.
An independent consultant hired by the State’s Regional Planning Commissions (Vermont Association of Planning and Development Agencies, VAPDA) and the Department of Housing and Community Development completed a review of all 11 Comprehensive Regional Plans in Vermont in 2013. We will be incorporating necessary changes throughout the Plan Central Vermont process. To view the report, click here.
